The Quintessence of Project SHEudyami

A society in which women cannot realize their full potential loses out on the significant potential for innovation, economic growth and job creation.

SHEudyami is a concept towards creating women entrepreneurs from semi urban and rural parts of India. Entrepreneurial atmosphere in India is conducive enough for pursuing alternative business ideas. The project is supported by Fullerton India Credit Company Limited (FICCL) and is implemented by AWAG along with its technical partner SCORE Livelihood Foundation (SCORE).

The idea was to help women in the following areas so as to make them self-reliant:

  • Build their entrepreneurial capacity
  • Provide them the required need based vocational/technical know-how
  • Link them with the financial resources; and
  • Assist them in market linkages

Literate/semi-literate women in the age group of 18 to 35 years derive benefit of the project and are engaged in livelihood activities from their homes or through liaisoning with local traders.

Overall, it would not be out of place to mention that the SHEudyami project garners self-confidence, enhances skills and gives women their due recognition in their society. Today the trained women have a sense of pride and enhanced self-esteem.
