Following the riots of 1986, AWAG started intervening with riot-torn women and responded to their demand of generating income. While the primary need of these women victims are fulfilled by providing social and legal counselling to them, the organization’s holistic approach of working for the economic betterment of ultra-poor women, gradually led to the formation of AWAG-EKTA Industrial Co-operative Society in 1992.
Recently it has also established linkage with Fabindia for garment making. In order to meet the rising demand, AWAG offers high quality and continued training to women to develop their skills and become competent to deliver high quality finished products, thereby increasing their scope of generating income through stitching/tailoring.
