What We Do

Despite changing values among the new generation in India, social views on domestic violence still have anti-women bias. According to a poll conducted by UNICEF in 2011, 57% of Indian males aged between 15 and 19 believe that domestic violence against women is occasionally justified. In 2011 alone, more than 99 000 cases of domestic abuse were reported. Yet, a large number of cases continue to be uneported and mar-ginalised. (Note– please include latest facts and figures for unreported cases in India & Gujarat)

At AWAG we take a holistic approach to tackling domestic abuse. We raise awareness about women’s rights, we campaign and lobby for pro-women policies and also support women to be self -reliant in economic and social terms.
